Terms of Service
Effective: 2026-05-30 · Last updated: 2026-05-30
Choralo is a household chore tracker. By installing or using it you're agreeing to these terms. They cover what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and what happens when something goes wrong. We've tried to write them plainly — read them.
1. Who we are
"Choralo," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the team operating the Choralo app and website at choralo.com. You can reach us at hello@choralo.com.
2. Your account
Choralo creates an anonymous account for you on first launch. You can later link a Google or Apple account so your data follows you across devices. You're responsible for any activity that happens under your account. If you suspect your account has been used without your permission, email us.
You must be old enough to consent to a contract in your jurisdiction to use Choralo on your own. If you're a parent or guardian adding a child to your household, you're agreeing to these terms on their behalf and supervising their use.
3. Free features
The core single-user experience — rooms, tasks, completions, today schedule, statistics, widgets, Apple Watch, Siri shortcuts — is free, forever, with no advertising. You don't need to pay or sign in to use it.
4. Premium ($4.99 one-time)
Premium is a single one-time purchase that unlocks:
- Household creation and the ability to invite others.
- The Activity feed, kudos, comments, reactions, and weekly-champion fan-out.
- The leaderboard.
- Live Activity / Dynamic Island for the cleaning timer (iOS).
- Alternate app icons.
- Future Premium-tagged features we add.
Premium is not a subscription. You pay once, on Apple or Google's billing system, and you keep access to the Premium features in this app forever (within the lifetime of the app and platforms it runs on). You can "Restore Purchase" from Settings on any device signed into the same Apple ID or Google account.
5. Payments and refunds
All charges are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) at the price they show before you confirm. Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their respective policies — we don't take payment directly and can't independently refund a purchase. If you need a refund, request it through your store's purchase history.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use Choralo to:
- Harass household members, send abusive comments, or coerce someone into doing chores against their will.
- Upload photo proofs that contain other people without their consent, or anything illegal, sexually explicit, or designed to harm.
- Reverse engineer the app to break paywall enforcement, impersonate household members, or bypass approval workflows.
- Send automated traffic, scrape, or otherwise overload the cloud household backend.
We may remove content or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on severity.
7. Your content
Your chores, completions, comments, kudos, and photos are yours. You grant Choralo a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, transmit, and display this content for the sole purpose of operating the app for you and your household. We don't use your content to train models, generate marketing material, or share with anyone outside your household.
You're responsible for what you upload. If you don't have permission to share a photo, don't attach it.
8. Service availability
Choralo's free single-user features keep working offline forever, since they live on your device. Cloud household features depend on Firebase, the internet, and our continued operation of the backend — none of which are guaranteed indefinitely. We'll make a reasonable effort to keep household sync online, but we don't promise specific uptime, backup retention, or service-level guarantees. Always keep a local export of important data.
9. Discontinuation
If we ever decide to shut down the cloud backend, we'll give at least 60 days' notice in the app and at choralo.com, plus a final export window. Your local data will remain on your device regardless.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
Choralo is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific chore will actually get done.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Choralo will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or revenue, arising from your use of the app. Our total cumulative liability for any claim is capped at the greater of $20 USD or the amount you actually paid for Premium.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed.
12. Changes
We may update these terms when we add new features or change how things work. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Effective" date above and surface a notice inside the app. Continued use after the change means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Choralo is operated. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts there, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you a different forum.
14. Contact
